🍵 Herbs in pregnancy are a BIG grey area, i.e. we simply don’t have the data one way or the other, which is why there really isn’t a “yes” or “no” on many.

That being said, there are certain herbs that have been used for centuries in and outside of pregnancy that have shown little to no adverse outcomes in pregnancy, or only adverse outcomes when consumed in very large amounts (much more than 1 cup of tea!).

Tuna can be safely included in your pregnancy diet. Especially do not avoid tuna if it is the only fish you will eat.

Tuna is a fantastic source of protein, B vitamins, selenium, and even DHA and vitamin D, which are crucial for your baby’s brain and organ development.

The difference is in mercury content:
✅ Canned Light / Skipjack Tuna: Lower in mercury. Enjoy 2-3 servings (about 8-12 oz) per week.
⚠️ White Albacore Tuna: Higher in mercury. Limit to one serving (about 6 oz) per week.
🚫 Bigeye/Ahi/Bluefin Tuna: Highest in mercury.
